New Metal Gear Rising gameplay shows Desperados

Metal Gear Rising is now approaching its long awaited release and it’s fair to say that there is a lot of positive feedback in the air on Raiden’s spin-off adventure from Platinum Games under the guidance of Hideo Kojima and his production team. We now have some new gameplay for you to check out, giving you a glimpse of the game’s main antagonists that Raiden will face, known as the Desperados.

Simply put, it looks like Raiden is going to have his work cut out taking these guys down as they really look the business. The PMC Desperados form a rival cyborg faction on the other side of Raiden’s PMC Maverick Enterprises, with the gameplay giving us a sneak peak at the members Monsoon, Mistral, Sundowner and a rather sinister looking fellow called Detstream.

The action is frantic, but exciting enough to suggest that it won’t just be the same hacking and slashing formula throughout the whole game. The graphics look fairly decent as well, although nothing too amazing it has to be said. 60 frames per second is a pleasing addition to the game though, so props to Platinum Games for sticking to their original aims for the game.

As we told you in a previous report, Gray Fox, the cyborg ninja from Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 will also be playable in Rising for anyone who pre-orders the EU edition of the game. For US pre-orders, picking up the game from Amazon will score you with a free Inferno Armor skin which allows Raiden to equip more equipment than usually allowed with other suits.

There has been a lot of criticism over Rising, but we have a feeling the game won’t suffer the same Metacritic user review fate as DmC: Devil May Cry upon release. Watch the new footage below and let us know if you will be buying the game from day one.
