New MacBook Pro model brings older price cuts

As we told you last week, Apple has finally introduced a new MacBook Pro update for 2014, offering a new configuration with slightly upgraded hardware specs compared to the 2013 model. Looking around, we can already see some movement with regards to the inevitable MacBook Pro 2013 price cuts.

If you head to Apple’s store now online, you can see that the new 2014 MacBook model is available to buy for $1299 which includes the Intel Iris graphics set-up and also a bump to 8GB of RAM compared to 4GB.

This will soon be Apple’s entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro and now that we can see that several third-party retailers are beginning to slash their prices.

One example is Best Buy, who are now selling the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro 2013 model for $1099, the same price Apple are asking for their standard and cheapest 13-inch MacBook Pro, which doesn’t come with a Retina display.

Best Buy’s price also includes a 128GB SSD drive, while Apple’s $1099 MacBook Pro comes with a 500GB hard drive instead which is obviously slower when booting up.

We can see the exact same deal on Amazon as well, so it’s nice to see these low price cuts coming into immediate effect just days after Apple has introduced an upgraded model.

The big question is whether you are willing to take Apple up on their offer of a new 2014 MacBook Pro, or if you are waiting for a major upgrade, possibly with design changes that will come in 2015.

Let us know your thoughts on the latest hardware upgrades and what you want to see next from the company moving forward.
