New Leica M Monochrom camera enhancements

Leica has a new camera coming, although from one of its main features, you would think it was a bit of a throwback. The new Leica M Monochrom camera, which has the suffix Typ 246 can only shoot in black and white, although this is now the second generation model of its kind.

You might be forgiven for thinking that Leica is being stubborn by sticking with black and white only, but there are still plenty of photographers that prefer to not shoot in color.

This 2015 version of the Leica M Monochrom comes packing a great number of enhancements to make it a more capable camera, such as going from an 18-megapixel sensor to 24-megapixel. Perforamcne has also been improved thanks to a much faster Leica Maestro processor, as well as a 2GB buffer capacity.

New Leica M Monochrom specs

There are so many reasons why a mono-only sensor is the better option, as it has far less work to do when it comes to reproducing images, and so the end result should always be better. How many black and white shots have you see recently that you felt seemed to add a whole lot more to the image rather than color?

A complete list of all the specifications and features can be downloaded here, and as for its release and price, we can tell you it will become available in mMy, although Leica has yet to reveal its price at this moment.
