New iPod Touch 2011 (5th Gen): Leaked Photos Show 128GB

At the moment everyone seems to be talking about the iPad 2 and iPhone 5, however today we have some information about the 5th-generation iPod Touch thanks to some leaked photos which recently showed up on CrunchGear.

Before we start talking about these leaked images we must remind you that they may be fake, however to us they look pretty genuine, also we must remember that the photos could be a prototype which will never be released.

If the blurry photos turn out to be legitimate early shots of the 2011 iPod Touch we could be in for a treat, it looks like the physical home button has gone and has been replaced by a capacitive home button, also we can see a camera on the rear and 128GB of storage, prior to this the largest capacity iPod Touch featured 64GB of storage.

Full details are unknown, however we would imagine that it will feature a better quality camera than 4th-gen model, this was capable of 720p HD video capture and was able to take stills at a resolution of 960×720, perhaps the next iPod Touch will take better still images.

There is some scepticism surrounding these photos, firstly the firmware version running on the leaked device is quite dated, also the camera which took the photos is a model first released in 2005, why do we always see leaked photos taken by such poor cameras in such blurry environments?

If we were to take the leak seriously we could see the 5th-gen iPod Touch arrive later this year with up to 128GB of storage and a capacitive home button, will this be enough for you to buy it? If not, what else would you like to see?

Below we have embedded one of the photos which showed up on CrunchGear.
