It’s getting to the time of the year when Apple iPhone rumors start to go into overdrive. The company has just released their third generation iPad of course, but now focus firmly switches to the new iPhone that Apple has in the pipeline and it looks like US consumers will finally be able to get their 4G LTE data fix on an iPhone for the very first time.
One of the standout features of the new iPad was built-in support for 4G LTE on AT&T and Verizon and other carriers across the world that support it. There is now multiple reports that the next iPhone will also have 4G LTE data support, but the big debate going on right now appears to be over display size.
Last week there was a interesting claim made by Reuters, who said that the next iPhone would feature 4G LTE, but a much larger display screen thought to be in the 4.6-inch range. This would obviously give the next iPhone a drastic new look, with a display screen similar in size to what we usually see with Samsung’s current crop of smartphones such as the Galaxy S2.
Before we have even had time to contemplate a 4.6-inch iPhone, a contradicting report has been published by iMore, who state that the next iPhone will actually keep its traditional 3.5-inch display size, but will still be 4G LTE enabled. It’s pretty interesting to us that this debate is going on about the display screen size when really, the debate should be on whether the next iPhone will have a quad-core processor or not.
A 4.6-inch iPhone would certainly be a bold step for Apple, as they may run the risk of angering current iPhone owners who believe that a 3.5-inch display is perfect – but those who love to watch media on their phone may disagree. Let’s not forget that 4.6-inches is very close to the 5-inch OLED screen that is featured on the PS Vita – and that is a massive screen.
