We have some fresh developments on the iPhone 5 release saga to bring you now, and it is very interesting news for those of you who have been keeping an eye on the rumors about a cost-effective iPhone 4 device.
While most of you are expecting just one iPhone device to release this Fall, that being the fifth-generation iPhone, we’re now hearing reports that Apple will instead release two iPhone models simultaneously in that period. The first device will of course be the rumored iPhone 5 which is meant to be carrying hardware specifications to compete alongside some of the top Android handsets out on the market at the moment, and then a second device thought to be a cheaper iPhone 4 model too.
The information has surfaced courtesy of Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White who has cited some information from Chinese website Sohu as reported from BGR. Details suggest that Apple has begun a fresh partnership with China Telecom, one of the largest carriers in the country and the apparent partnership entails that Apple will release both the iPhone 5 and the less expensive iPhone 4 towards the end of October.
If the information turns out to be correct, then we presume Apple will be following a similar plan in the US, except that releases for both models are likely to happen in September, saving a global release for China and other countries like the UK in October. Of course, we could be wrong here but it’s nice to know that Apple may be planning to release an alternative to the iPhone 5 at a cheaper price.
Will this cost-effective iPhone 4 feature the same specs as the current iPhone 4, or will it feature upgraded specs such as a dual-core A5 processor? This is probably unlikely since Apple will want to reserve their new hardware specs for the iPhone 5 so they can justify the inevitable premium asking price which is likely to greet consumers during September.
Where does your priorities lie though? Are you more interested in picking up the iPhone 5 and its new features regardless of the cost, or would you prefer to pick up an iPhone running iOS 5, available for a much lower price than seen on the Apple store at the moment.
