New iPhone 4G: Could Apple tweak it on AT&T?

We have an interesting article for you to read now, in which it has been revealed that Apple tweaked the iPhone in order for it to be less ‘taxing’ on AT&T’s network.

This could be particularly worrying if the iPhone 4G was to land on AT&T – would Apple follow the same plan – or is this yet more truth to the claims that a CDMA iPhone is on the way to Verizon.

According to this article from Apple Insider, Apple tweaked the iPhone so it put a lesser load on AT&T’s network, with simple tasks such as finding the nearest tower or checking for text messages.

What are your thoughts on this? Would this be a factor in your decision on which handset to pick up next?
