New iPad vs. Surface RT, aggressive summer 2013 marketing

Having already discussed how the so-called failure of the Surface RT was down to the wrong price point, Microsoft is now trying to rectify this with some amazing price reductions, but you have to ask if this is too little too late? However, Microsoft does not think so, as they have now begun what we would consider aggressive summer 2013 marketing, and this new iPad vs. Surface RT video commercial proves just that.

In the new ad Microsoft is concentrating on two key areas, their aggressive pricing campaign and the lack of USB. It seems funny that Microsoft should do this, especially when they would have you believe that the Surface is not necessarily a tablet, although the RT is more of one than the Pro.

When you begin the video you’ll notice the sound of Siri, where she then goes on to point out that the iPad is unable to do the things that the Surface RT can do, such as stand up on its own, unable to support USB or even lacks a snap-on keyboard/cover.

Microsoft shows off what they believe to be the biggest downfall of the iPad when compared to the Surface RT right at the end, and that’s the price. The iPad 32GB price is still $599, when compared to the new Surface RT price of just $349, which is also for the 32GB model.

The new pricing for the RT only happened last week, and so Microsoft has wasted no time creating an ad to show this off, and for good reason, as this will surely help sales, as the RT was said to be a little on the expensive side from the start

It’s not yet known if there will be a Surface RT 2 release, but with rumors of an upgraded version coming with an improved processor, one can only hope that its pricing will be aggressive from the start?
