New iOS 5 features shown on video, Steve Jobs needs to watch

If you are excited about tuning in to watch Apple announce their latest and greatest creations during WWDC 2011, you should first watch this excellent video we’ve found, which could offer a glimpse of some of the new iOS 5 features we may be seeing during next weeks event.

Of course, it’s not the first time that we have heard of different concept features for iOS 5, in fact they seem to be everywhere at the moment, but when you present it in a visally impressive video and show off the features at first hand and not via screenshots – we tend to take notice.

And that’s what exactly has happened with this video. It comes from an artist known as Color Monkey, and via Italian tech site iSpazio. The video lists four features that they would love to see Steve Jobs and co. announce next week at WWDC 2011 and after watching the video ourselves, we totally agree with their ideas.

The first is widgets which they suggest should be placed on the homescreen, i.e weather, music, clocks and so on – still accessible by swiping across the screen as normal. The second is specific settings on the homescreen, which we think is a great idea. Homescreen shortcuts for WiFi and Sound, Brightness would save a lot of time rather than having to go into the main settings menu each time.

Thirdly, they introduce a new notifications system, which prefers to utilize notifications on the bottom of the homescreen, rather than the current method of Apple’s pop ups. Also, you’ll see in the video that there’s still space for the multitasking app shortcuts, but this has also been revamped with a much slicker interface, rather than just standard app icons that you see now.

Finally, they tease the idea of including favorite friends on the homescreen, which again is an excellent idea. Rather then having to scroll your contacts or favorite numbers, instead find a homescreen shortcut of your favorite friends complete with photo thumbnail.

We’d love it too if Apple has plans to introduce any of these features next week at WWDC 2011. Take a look at the video below for yourself, and give us your impressions on them. Would you like to see any of these features in iOS 5? Perhaps you have a better idea which you’d like to share with us below.

Steve Jobs, we hope you’re watching.
