This article was updated with a new video revealing what seems to be the new HTC One M8 in a shaky review video, although this could just be a early production model. If you have been following the recent tweets between online blogs and HTC’s Jeff Gordon, then we’d like to point out the kid in the video seems to be just fine after some misunderstanding when Gordon tweeted in the heat of the moment.
The new HTC One M8 design arriving in 2014 hasn’t been welcomed by all, or at the very least the rumors of its specs and final design raise some questions with fans. One popular Twitter channel, evleaks, is known for publishing solid photos weeks before the hardware is unveiled and the photo on this page came from that very source.
You can see the tweet below that came with the message, “The all new HTC One, for Verizon”. The link to an image will reveal the same photo seen on this page, and this design has received mixed reactions from current HTC smartphone owners that wanted to upgrade to the 2014 edition.

Mobile Fun is a popular online UK phone shop and they feel confident enough to list the above photo on their pre-order page. The page is titled, “Sim Free HTC One 2014 M8 – 32GB – Silver / Grey”. The specs listed include HTC BoomSound Technology, Dual 5 megapixel cameras, a Quad-core 2.3 GHz processor, and “refined design”. Again, it is important to note that the new HTC One M8 has a launch date of March 25th, which is when the device will officially be revealed by HTC.
New HTC One M8, 2014 design woes – we have seen a number of negative reactions to the above leaked image and one commenter had this to say, “If the image of the new HTC One M8 is accurate, I’m disappointed with the design. It don’t look good with small screen real-estate and those rounded edges. We need an almost edge-to-edge display, so it covers most of the front leaving room for speakers”. Another added, “I love my HTC One, but the new 2014 version needs to use all of the room for display real estate, not for things like logos”.
Today, we also see that an FCC filing has been posted and hints at all four major US carriers receiving the smartphone. The so-called all new HTC One photo in the evleaks tweet has Verizon branding.
Do you like the new HTC One shown above, which is expected to release this month? Remembering this is still a leak and not an official photo just yet.
We saw some projected HTC One M8 specs last month and these were joined by a few requests from Product Reviews readers. Feel free to leave your ideal specs for the new HTC One in 2014, and of course your thoughts on the above design.
Update: We have included a video below of the HTC One M8 in a shaky visual review. There’s been a lot of controversy in the last 24 hours over the boy in the video being threatened, but Jeff Gordon, a Communications Manager at HTC, ensures everyone that the “kid is fine”.
