New Educational iPhone Math App: Partial Products Multiplication

A new app that teaches Multiplication problems with step by step guides has just been released for users of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Partial Products Multiplication 1.0 has an easy to use interface and will teach children how to solve multiplication problems. Released by independent developer Esa Helttula, the app allows for the teaching and studying of the partial products multiplication method.

This method is a two-step process for example, 39 x 24, each place value is first multiplied separately, then the partial products are added and 36 + 120 + 180 + 600 produces the answer 936. Many students find this method easier to understand than the normal algorithm. This app can help children and their parents when using this new method in multiplication, which is now being used in 185,000 classrooms across the US.

The app is easy to use; each partial product correct answer flies to the right place, making it easier for the user to concentrate solving the individual operations. Wrong answers are not allowed to be entered so this will provide a passive form of positive reinforcement, which will build confidence and improve skill levels.

Partial Products Multiplication 1.0 is on the App Store for only $0.99. iPhone/iPod Touch required with OS 3.0 or later.
