New BlackBerry 10 news and finance apps

We wanted to share some new BlackBerry 10 news and finance apps this week that are available on BlackBerry World. The mobile operating system might not be the most popular, but it is still the only option for millions of users around the world and some great BlackBerry 10 apps land every week.

First Direct – manage your money on the go with this new app for First Direct internet banking customers. This app allows you to keep on top of your spending by checking your balance and viewing up to 90 of your last transactions.

It also allows you to transfer money between your accounts and make payments to those you’ve paid before all while on the move. It is available for free for all BlackBerry 10 devices and can be downloaded on the official store.

The Banking on the Go app has received 4 stars in the online rating system, so while we cannot confirm where the app shines it is certainly enjoyed by the majority of BlackBerry users.

The Economist on BlackBerry – readers of The Economist can now use this app to access the magazine’s highlights on the go. Users can read editor’s picks and a selection of weekly articles from 9pm every Thursday and even switch to audio streaming.

This app will allow you to download up to four editions, perfect for reading on your daily commute on the train or when you are unable to access WiFi or a 3G/4G network. The app is available for BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Q5 and can be downloaded on BlackBerry World.

We would like to point out that The Economist BlackBerry 10 app has a low rating of 2.5 stars, so while we are unsure as to why this is it seems that a number of the BlackBerry World users don’t like the app a lot after giving it a try. Let us know your thoughts on The Economist app after trying it on your BlackBerry 10 device.

Do you have a favorite BlackBerry 10 app you are using right now? If so, please leave details in the comments and why you love using the app.
