Apple published a new iPhone 5 TV ad on New Years Day that promoted one of the phones features, which couldn’t have been done in a more untimely manner. Apple had obviously been planning this new TV ad for a while, so they couldn’t have predicted the very feature they would promote in the Jan 1st television advertisement would also not work correctly on New Years Day.
Apple’s iOS 6 ‘Do Not Disturb’ delivers problems for users — yesterday we published an article that touched on the so-called “hangover” feature, which users named after being given a longer sleep in after the Do Not Disturb feature failed to turn off. This meant iPhone 5 users were not disturbed even after the scheduled turn-on time.
Reactions from PR readers included some iPhone 4S owners stating everything works fine, and then others explaining “my iPhone 4S is having issues two days in a row“. This meant for some people the Do Not Disturb option is still not working on Jan 2. We also received confirmation that the iPhone 3GS joined the iPhone 5 in problems with the Do Not Disturb feature. Read what some of our readers had to say in the article here.
The new Apple iPhone 5 TV ad — you can see the video below this article, which comes with the tagline “your iPhone 5 knows not to ring” after turning on Do Not Disturb. They also mention that you can still receive calls you really want when this feature is turned on, which will be thanks to setting certain important contacts that can contact you during this time.
The video shows you this simple process and you can quickly see the “From” and “To” time slots for when you want Do Not Disturb to work between. Sadly that didn’t happen yesterday for thousands of users.
Did Do Not Disturb work for you on Jan 2? If some people are still having problems then this feature might need a fix in a future iOS update.
