New 2014 iMac price point in UK, US

Apple introduced a new 2014 iMac with a lower price point today, which comes with a much cheaper price for gaining the all-in-one Mac. You can see how the new iMac price compares in the UK and USA below, with the latest 21.5-inch model featuring NEW orange text next to its listing.

You can clearly see the price difference between the new 21.5-inch iMac introduced on June 18, 2014, and that of the older 21.5-inch version in the middle. The price might be a good £150 less, but you’ll lose in processing power thanks to dropping to a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 rather than 2.7GHz quad-core i5. The graphics also change from Intel Iris Pro Graphics to Intel HD Graphics 5000 and storage changes from a 1TB hard drive to 500GB hard drive.

There’s a lot being reduced to save shoppers the £150 and get the price down to £899.00 for the new 2014 21.5-inch iMac, although this might be too much of a reduction in specs for some people. You can see how the US prices look in the screenshot below, which sees the new 21.5-inch iMac price start at $1,099.00 compared to $1,299.00. Again, the same changes in specs apply.

Would you be happy to take this saving and less specs with the new 2014 iMac launched today? This isn’t the Retina refresh some people wanted, but it certainly helps Apple to reach a new iMac price point.
