The new 15 registration number plates have caused some problems for DVLA with their website going down today. The build up to the new 15 Reg plate was expected to make the official government website load slowly thanks to demand, but it’s not working at all right now on December 4, 2014.
It apparently went live at around 8:30am this morning, UK time. The official address is dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk, so as you can expect thousands of car owners are trying to register their new 15 Reg plate, but this demand has taken down the DVLA website.
At the time of writing, we are getting a “Failed to open” message in Safari. The outage will cause different error messages in other mobile and desktop web browsers like Firefox, although it’s not clear when the DVLA website will be back up working to take registrations again.
Have you been able to get your new 15 Reg plate today and if not, when did you run into problems with the DVLA website today? We are not sure if this happens every year about this time, so feel free to leave a comment and what you hope to get for your 2015 number plate registration.
