A couple of days ago we told you that owners of the PlayStation 3 were beginning to receive the Netflix application on their systems. Today we can tell you that Netflix says hello as it launches to UK consumers, and pricing is revealed.
Previously users couldn’t access the app on the PS3, but from today the service is now live and users can sign up for a one month free trial via the Netflix website. Then if you want to continue using the service it will cost £5.99 per month to watch unlimited movies and TV shows.
There are a number of different ways to get the streamed content to either your TV or mobile device, but you will need a good internet connection. You can simply watch on your computer or connect your laptop to your TV via a VGA to HDMI cable. Besides the PS3 the service is also available on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
There is a free application for the Android, iOS and Windows platforms allowing you to watch content on the go. Not all Android and Windows devices are supported though. Users can sign up to the service via Facebook that will allow you to share and discover what your friends are watching.
If you sign up to the free trail you will need to cancel the service at the end of the month or you will then be charged the monthly fee. The new service from Netflix goes up against Amazon’s Lovefilm but promises older BBC TV shows after agreeing a deal with the broadcaster.
Will you try out Netflix?
