Netflix for iPhone / iPod Touch: Now Supports Video Out

The developer behind the Netflix app for iPhone and iPod Touch has recently pushed out a new version of the app which adds support for video out functionality.

Prior to this only the Netflix iPad app featured this functionality, however now iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th generation owners will be able to output their Netflix rentals to a larger external display.

The application update also brings a few minor bug fixes, if you would like to download it check out this link.

We would love to hear if you have tried out this new functionality, if so what cable did you use? What was the external screen size? And what was the overall quality like?

This is a great addition to this app
I use the apple composite cable and it works great on my tv.
I also use it with my vuzix video eyewear and it is perfect.
    I'm a happy camper!

Deceptive… only supports video out for iphone / ipod 4G. Are they in collusion with apple? Lots of people have 3G, but not too many have 4G yet. Still waiting for video out…

How is that deceptive? I doubt the earlier generations have enough processor power to drive a larger video display in high quality. They’re not just trying to make you buy a new model… How would that possibly benefit Netflix?
