Nest Learning Thermostat UK differences require assistance

The Nest Learning Thermostat is finally available to purchase in the UK, although we need to point out that due to there being differences with heating systems in the UK, this will require assistance. The versions for US and Canada are already on the market and there are a few differences that make it a little easier to install in those countries.

As a UK homeowner I can understand just how difficult it can be to control the heating in my home, and while heating systems are getting more efficient and energy suppliers work at ways to make you control your heating efficiently, and the best way to do this is by controlling it from an app while you are not even at home.

Like we said above, there are a few differences with the UK version of the Nest Learning Thermostat, and so you will not be able to install the system yourself. This will require the assistance of Nest Certified Professionals, as boilers in the UK have high-voltage wiring running to it.

The Nest Learning Thermostat is expected to take around an hour to install.

A review of the Nest Learning Thermostat can be seen in our recent article, and will help make your mind up as to whether you would benefit from installing the new system.

You can find Nest Certified Professionals here, and we can see that they will charge around the £45 mark to install.

As for the Thermostat itself, this can be purchased through Amazon, Apple or even B&Q for £179, which means the total cost will be £224. However, if you hurry you will be able to benefit from free installation with B&Q up until April 8th, 2014.
