MyTouch 3G Slide: Download Android 2.2 Froyo Update Now

We have some great news for those of you still in possession of the MyTouch 3G Slide handset on T-Mobile, as we can confirm that HTC has just put the download for Android 2.2 Froyo up on their website. It may be long overdue, but hey – MyTouch 3G Slide owners won’t be complaining.

Aside from providing users with an official upgrade to Froyo, the update also fixes a few bugs that were causing some problems on the handset. These include issues with bluetooth compatibility, problems with text and picture messaging and much more, as reported from Phandroid.

As for the Froyo update itself, users will now be able to enjoy WiFi calling, personal hotspot support, USB tethering and a much more improved stability and performance of the UI. An important thing to note though, is that this update will NOT be available OTA. Instead, you’ll have to head to the HTC support page here and download it manually, then transfer to your handset via data cable. You can also use that page to get full information on the Froyo update.

For those of you who already have it installed, are you delighted with the new features, or have you discovered any problems that you feel we should know about? Froyo is probably as good as it gets for the MyTouch 3G Slide, so don’t be praying for a Gingerbread update anytime soon.
