For hygiene and technology enthusiasts alike, Procter & Gamble are serving up something unique at MWC 2014. The event will showcase a smart toothbrush which connects to your mobile via Bluetooth, providing analysis on your brushing habits.

This new smart brush will be listed under Procter & Gamble’s Oral-B brand, being placed at the top of the electric toothbrush range and therefore coming with an extra premium price of $330. You can download an app for your smartphone giving information on your teeth cleaning patterns, receiving advice on areas you neglect and should focus on.

Dentists will be able to use this data you collect and program the app to make sure you are brushing properly, the app will reportedly be able to create a fully personalized brushing routine for you. The mobile app which speaks to the smart toothbrush using Bluetooth 4.0 can tell you if you are brushing to hard and need to focus on cleaning certain areas.

Another feature of the Oral-B smart brush is the ability to show you how your are brushing your teeth in real time, allowing you to modify the clean as required. The Mobile World Congress is well known for demonstrating the newest smartphones and tablets, however plenty of new and unique gadgets like this are also shown off to the world.

Whether the Oral-B brush will actually catch on with consumers is unclear, the price tag for a tooth brush is huge but this luxury device does seem like something that would sell. Perhaps a new revolution is coming to the dental hygiene industry, and for all these years everyone has been saying all we needed was an Apple a day!

Would a smart toothbrush with mobile connectivity tempt you for the price being asked for?
