MW3 DLC: Content drops for PS3 Elite members, non subscribers

We have some important news for those of you who play Modern Warfare 3 but do not have a Call of Duty Elite subscription. You’ll know that DLC is landing at the end of this month for Elite members only, but now we have a release update for when the content will be available for everyone else.

January 24 is the magical date when Elite members get their first piece of DLC out of a promised 20 content drops throughout the year. A recent trailer released by Infinity Ward confirmed two of the maps that players will be featured in the first content drop and they are Liberation and Piazza.

The big question that most of you are wondering, is when will this Elite content become available for PS3 members with a subscription as well? As you know, DLC releases first on Xbox 360 and this will be the case when the first drop goes live on January 24th. However, Robert Bowling has revealed that PS3 Elite members will get the content shortly after the Xbox 360, which also means that PS3 Elite members will get these two new maps before non-Elite members on the Xbox 360 get it – which will be fairly satisfying we expect.

”The content comes out first for @Xbox Elite Premium members, then shortly after for subscribers on other platforms.”

Though it obviously pains Bowling to even mention the word PS3 in his tweet, that is the platform he is referring to when he says that other subscribers will get it after Xbox 360. Don’t forget that there is no Call of Duty Elite on the PC at the moment.

As for when to expect the first piece of paid-DLC for those of you without a subscription, Bowling has also confirmed that this will be available sometime in March. Unfortunately though, there’s no official date yet or price – we’re guessing that this is due to there only being two confirmed maps and if IW are planning to charge $14.99 for it we expect there to be at least another two maps on the way.

”ELITE subscribers get free monthly DLC content drops for #MW3. In March, the first paid collection of DLC comes out for non-subscribers.”

So there we have it, we hope that clears up some of the confusion. PS3 Elite members will still get the content before non-elite Xbox 360 users. Everyone else will get it in March. If you are playing the game regularly on Xbox 360 and PS3, let us know your thoughts on this DLC update.
