Moving towards iOS 7 with new features

It does seem strange that we are now discussing about moving towards iOS 7 when there are clearly issues with the current OS. While Apple would have you believe that they have rectified those dreaded Wi-Fi and battery issue, so many of you are still reporting that the problems persists. As with every new version of iOS we know nothing about what those new features will be, but being an iPhone 5 owner it’s pretty easy to know what Apple should deliver in their next big update.

Apple seems to constantly let their iOS users down by not delivering the features that they need, with many people suggesting that they make the shift to Android, as it’s those features that they demand the most. However, making the move is not as simple as that because iOS users are committed to their choice, along with the fact that they much prefer having Apple keeping an eye on what is made available on the App Store.

iOS 7 new features should include: The first feature is seen in the video below, which is a concept for alerts while you have Do Not Disturb activated — personally I’ve never found the need to use DND. It would be nice to be able to set you own default apps, this is highlighted with the Apple Maps app, where this is set by default, whereas since Google Maps has now been made available again it would be far better to set this as you default map app.

The camera app is still a little on the basic side and needs a major overhaul in order to compete with rival Android devices. It’s a shame that you have to rely on third-party apps in order to get more from your images. Making Siri smarter is also another needed iOS 7 feature we would like to see because while there have been a number of advancements made since it was first released, it’s still a long way from perfect.

Another clever idea would be to have resizable icons as seen in the second video below, but would this be something you would use? Other features that should be included in iOS 7 should be Swype, more Passbook content, and also Cloud gaming.

These are just a few ideas but what changes would you like to see in iOS 7?

my guess? ios 7 will have some “new feature” that isn’t really all that useful, or is complete junk (applemaps). it will also have serious battery drain issues with previous generations of I products. just like the last 3 IOS versions….they really should just release a new ios with a new user interface, and what the fans want…

I would like to see user specified locked apps. Using a second (different) passcode than the phone unlock. Some app builders do this, but I want to see a system wide use of it. I let my kids play on my phone all the time, but I don’t want them accidentally emailing my boss, so, as an example, I would choose to password protect that app from opening. Many of my apps could use it, though I want to select which apps do and don’t get that feature.
