Motorola Xoom HRI66 update Boosts Benchmark Results

If you own the Motorola Xoom you have probably noticed that a new update has been rolled out by Verizon Wireless, this update (HRI66) includes enhancements which will allow Adobe Flash 10.2 support in the future, not only this but it seems to improve benchmark scores.

According to some AndroidCentral forum members Quadrant benchmark scores rose by 28% following the update, another comments suggests that the Xoom’s Linpack score rose from 64.4 to 65.8 after the update.

Obviously benchmark scores do not always give us a true representation of real-world performance, however it does show that Motorola’s developers are already working hard to make the Xoom a faster and better device.

Previously we posted an article showing how overclocking the Motorola Xoom increased performance, we wonder if overclocking the Motorola Xoom running the HRI66 firmware update will generate even more impressive benchmark scores.

The update was rolled out by Motorola on March 10 and will arrive via WiFi or 3G, it seems to take roughly 5 minutes to install itself, if you experience any problems this forum thread may be worth checking out.

Did you notice any major improvements after installing the update?
