Motorola Droid X: Firmware Update Before Release

When Motorola shipped out sample Droid X smartphones for reviews they were running either firmware version 1.13.514 or 1.13.516, we are now hearing that more recent models are now running an even newer version of the software.

This latest firmware version is 1.13.604, there is no changelog, however the update is 18MB in size, therefore may be pretty substantial, sadly however it does not bring Android 2.2 FroYo.

Chances are this firmware patches a few bugs and security vulnerabilities, there is also talk of improvements to small text in web pages, prior to this update small text was apparently jagged around the edges.

It is currently unclear which version of the firmware the boxed Motorola Droid X’s will come with, however if it is a previous version I’m sure Verizon will release an over-the-air update pretty soon.
