Motorola Droid X: Exceptional hardware, not software

The Motorola Droid X has not even been available for a week and like other Android handsets before it is running out of stock. We knew that the smartphone was going to be popular, but not as big as this. However, before you get too exited, the Droid X is not perfect and has a series of problems.

Alan Ng, he has reported that the latest Android handset suffers from a defective screen and that there have been reports of privacy issues. Urvaksh Karkaria from Atlanta Tech has spent four days with the Motorola Droid X and during his observation decided that although the hardware is exceptional, the software is not.

Yes, we know that it comes with Google Android, but due to its custom UI seems to be missing something offered by the full version on the Nexus One. We have to point out that Karkaria has never used Google’s mobile OS, so most of his time would have been spent trying to get to grips with it.

It is not all bad though; he believes that the Droid X is solid and that it is much better than the Apple iPad. He did not have an issue with the large screen and the hump on top like many other users have complained about. The issue Karkaria does have is the fact that you buy an Android handset knowing that a newer and better one will only be a few weeks down the line.
