Motorola Droid Bionic or iPhone 5: Tough decisions this September

The next couple of months are going to be a busy time with a whole host of new handsets coming out to the market. The Samsung Galaxy S II looks set to lunch next month in the US after the sign up page went live yesterday. The delayed Motorola Droid Bionic has now been confirmed for a September release, but this will coincide with the next iPhone. So consumers will have to decide on the Motorola Droid Bionic or iPhone 5 with some tough decisions this September

After seeing no new iPhone back in June at the WWDC event, Apple has decided to give us ‘major product transition’ in September. Meanwhile the Motorola Droid Bionic has been long delayed as the company made changes to the handset, which was originally put down to enhance the user experience.

But yesterday Motorola Mobility Chief Executive, Sanjay Jha, promised the elusive handset would be finally coming in September. But according to Cnet the company has some other interesting devices coming out during the second half of the year.

They plan to bring out another 4G LTE handset and two tablets are also planned. He said that Motorola plan to have a 10-inch tablet and a smaller version, which will be sold through carriers and retailers. He added that the consumer feedback of the tablet “feedback has been positive.”

The company is looking to take on the challenge of the forthcoming iPhone head on by having a strong product lineup. They are expecting a large jump in profits during the fourth quarter based on its new products. One thing that may be of concern though is the amount of consumers who already desire the iPhone 5 without knowing anything about it.

We reported recently about the survey which found 35 percent of respondents wanted to get the iPhone 5. The Motorola Droid Bionic does have many potential customers though, as not everyone wants an Apple product. But the long delay has allowed many other Android handsets become available which will have lost the Bionic some sales.

The consumers who gave up waiting and purchased something else will likely be tied into a two year contract, and by the time this will end something better than the Droid Bionic will be available. Which of the two handsets would you choose?

Im waiting for bionic. The moto photon has the same specs as the s2 (maybe even better due to its ddr2 ram) so why wouldn’t moto release it as the bionic to compete with samsung’s phone? I think it’s because they don’t just want to ‘compete’ with other phones, moto probably feels as though the bionic’s specs are clearly BETTER. if so, then the ‘top-secret’ status of the bionic makes sense because they want the element of surprise so the competition won’t have time to adjust their phone’s specs…As for iPhone 5, I’m not even considering buying it. Apple seems… Read more »

I wanted the Bionic but got turned off by Mototrola’s leaving customers in the dark. They say September when the 30th They never give you a clear answer. That has turned me off. I rather wait for the Samsung Galaxy!

He did not say it would be released in Sept he said it would be in stores in Sept. What does that mean?? it could still release in Aug.or Sept your guess lol

If the iphone 5 has the A5 processor I will definitely go that direction.  After seeing the unresolved issues with the beautiful Samsung Charge and the Droid 3’s underwhelming features, I will welcome this Apple product.
