Motorola Droid 2: Verizon Release Date and Price confirmed?

We have some exciting news for those of you planning to pick up the Motorola Droid 2 on Verizon soon, as a new rumored release date has been disclosed, revealing that customers will be able to pick the handset up in August.

According to this report from BGR, the new Droid 2 will be available for Verizon customers on August 23rd. The date has surfaced from AndroidandMe.com and also reveals a rumored $199.99 price point.

Unlike the upcoming Motorola Droid X, the Motorola Droid 2 is strongly tipped to be launching with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box, meaning that this handset is a much bigger attraction aside from it’s hardware specs.

Then again, this is still a rumor and the date is by no means confirmed. Let us know your thoughts on this. Do you think the information is accurate or not?
