Moto X cases may come in 16 colors

Earlier this week we told you that the highly anticipated Moto X from Motorola would come with heavy customization options that would effectively allow consumers to ‘design’ the smartphone themselves. Now, we’re pleased to bring you some updated details on this, with the release of an image thought to show off some of the new colored cases that may be available at launch.

As we told you in our previous report, Motorola hasn’t gone into full details on just what they mean by allowing customers to customize the Moto X themselves. Speculation had been brewing that could involve building personal hardware specifications to one’s liking, but now we have learned that customization will in fact come in the form of various cases and an engraving option.

Firstly, information has been disclosed via a report by ABCNews, who say that different colors and engraving options will be available to all buyers of the Moto X. Consumers will be able to choose a color for their back casing and also another color for the trim of their Moto X. Additionally, you’ll be able to add engraving if you like and upload a photo to Motorola’s website, which can then be transferred to your device to use as a wallpaper – we’re not sure how that will differ from standard wallpapers though?

So with different colors seemingly forming the bulk of Motorola’s customization ability, we now have a purported picture to show you courtesy of, who have allegedly already seen the Moto X cases in the flesh. According to them, the Moto X will be available in a total of 16 colors and then will include options such as Red, Blue, Pink, Green and Purple.

You can see a preview of this above – what are your first impressions? The build quality doesn’t look too impressive based on this picture, but then again the quality of the image itself isn’t good either so it’s hard to tell. We often get bored of seeing the same old black and white options for new smartphones, so we can’t wait to see the full lineup of 16 colors when the Moto X is nearing a release.

Don’t forget this new information hasn’t been confirmed by Motorola yet, but it does look promising. Give us your first thoughts on these cases – what color would you choose if you decide to purchase a Moto X?
