Mortal Kombat X PS3, Xbox 360 release date officially dead

It was the news that we were all secretly fearing and sadly that reality has now become true. NetherRealm Studios has now confirmed that the Mortal Kombat X release date on PS3 and Xbox 360 will never happen.

MKX on PS3 and Xbox 360 has been cancelled due to the fact that the developers were unable to get the game out to the ‘quality of a Mortal Kombat game’.

The developers for the last-gen versions were not NetherRealm remember, but High Voltage Software who were in charge of the port.

After the crisis involving Batman Arkham Knight on PC, it now looks like it is Warner Bros’ turn to face the music again after off-sourcing the last-gen version to a different development team.

As a result, NetherRealm now advises customers to head back to the retailer in which they bought the game to claim a full MKX refund on PS3 or Xbox 360.

Above is the official statement as it appears on the WB community forums, while below is Ed Boon’s confirmation along with an image representing the mood that many gamers are feeling right now.

After so many delays, did you expect this to happen? Let us know how you feel about the cancellation of MKX below.

Let’s hope that none of you have problems getting a refund.
