Mortal Kombat: Leatherface DLC teased by NetherRealm Studios

Earlier on we brought you the very exciting possibility of the Predator being featured in Mortal Kombat, but now we have even more DLC character information for you. We’ve just discovered that another film-based character could also be making his way into the MK universe after Freddy Krueger.

We previously told you that NetherRealm Studios were planning to include the likes of Jason or Michael Myers before they decided on Freddy Krueger, but one guy who we didn’t mention is Leatherface, who you’ll probably know from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies.

Just check out the following Tweet from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon if you don’t believe us:

”@Arroyo3d @noobde so what new games you guys working on at NRS? Noobde: Leather Face DLC.”P

Now we don’t know if Boon is just joking around as it seems pretty strange of him to reveal another DLC character on his Twitter account just like that. On the other hand, it’s not the first time that he has given big hints away about Mortal Kombat reveals on Twitter, so that leads us to believe that he may just be telling the truth.

You should also take into account that Leatherface could definitely work in the Mortal Kombat universe, and his chainsaw-based moves would serve up a bloody treat for those who enjoy the gory side of the Mortal Kombat reboot. If Leatherface did join Krueger in Mortal Kombat, he would probably be a close-quarters only type of fighter, as it would seem pretty unrealistic if he was to somehow shoot projectiles from his chainsaw – unless NRS allow him to fire shards of metal from his chainsaw, or something along those lines.

Are NetherRealm Studios going down a risky path in including all these non-Mortal Kombat based characters, or do you support the idea 100%? From our point of view, we say bring it on as it will add a new level of excitement for those who are getting bored of using the standard characters and are looking for new DLC characters to use.

Freddy Krueger is going to be an awesome addition to the game and with Predator and possibly Leatherface on the way, it will only add to the strengths that Mortal Kombat is currently the best console fighter hands-down. Give us your thoughts on the possible inclusion of Leatherface.
