Mortal Kombat 9: New Characters include Sonya Blade?

We have some exciting news for hardcore MK fans now, as it looks confirmed that classic character Sonya Blade will once again be returning to the franchise for upcoming title Mortal Kombat in 2011.

As reported from RealmOfGaming, some screenshots from a Russian magazine has confirmed the news, and show Sonya Blade’s updated model for the new game.

She looks pretty cool we have to say, but are you a fan of her inclusion in the game or not? Personally, I would say she was one of the least used characters in MK1 and MKT, but we’re guessing that female MK fans are delighted that she is making a return.

That makes 3 female fighters so far, with Kitana and Mileena – dare I say it and mention Sheeva or Sindel? You can check out a screenshot of Sonya Blade in the link above. Let us know your thoughts on the leak. We wonder what other characters Ed Boon and Co have in store for us.

i beg to differ. Sonya is a fan favorite including Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and many others.

Hope Sindel and Sheeva make a return along with Ermac, Shang Tsung, and Jade.
