Modern Warfare 3: First Golden gun gameplay – AA-12 Shotgun

We have some fantastic news for those of you who enjoyed using golden guns in previous Call of Duty games, as a recent gameplay video released by Infinity Ward has secretly confirmed that golden guns will once again be available for unlock in Modern Warfare 3.

We’re not sure how intentional this was on Infinity Ward’s part to reveal this, as we only see brief evidence of a golden shotgun in a recent gameplay video which focused on strike packages in multiplayer, and definitely not golden guns.

If you watch the clip below, you’ll clearly see at around 1.15 into the video that the user is playing with a golden AA-12 shotgun, so we’re guessing that this will once again be one of the final weapon unlocks when players start to reach the higher ranks of multiplayer. Golden guns were not available in Modern Warfare 2 of course, but they did feature in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Treyarch included them again in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Usually a player will unlock the golden version of a gun when a player maxes out all the challenges that are available for a specific weapon, but sometimes you’ll also be able to get a golden version of a weapon just by reaching a certain rank, like the Golden Desert Eagle in the first Modern Warfare game for example.

Robert Bowling confirmed that golden guns will be available in MW3 with a Tweet on October 13th, but as far as we’re aware, this is the very first time that we have seen one in action during multiplayer gameplay – so enjoy it. Will every single weapon include a golden camo in Modern Warfare 3, or just certain weapons only?

Check out the video at 1.15 onwards for yourself below and give us your reaction to golden guns being in the game again – is this what you aim to unlock primarily as you rank up?
