Modbook Pro X is a 15.4-inch iPad with OS X

The Modbook Pro X is the latest device from the company that brought you many other converted MacBook Pro devices over the years. However, this is considered to be the best yet and if there was any way to describe it, then we would have to say it is like a 15.4-inch iPad that runs on OS X instead of iOS.

Ok, so we know that this is not really an iPad, and will not offer the same sort of experience because of the operating system, as well as the technology behind the touchscreen. What it does give you though is one of, if not the most powerful tablets there is.

You will have to pay the price for that power though because the Modbook Pro X will cost $1,999. This money will get your pre-order, although it still might not come off unless the $150,000 is achieved in 39 days time on Kickstarter. It is worth remembering that this price is to convert your own MacBook Pro. If things go according to plan, then the cost of the full-on version will cost $3,999.

The Modbook Pro X can be configured right up to a 2.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, along with integrated Intel Iris Pro Graphics, although there is an option for NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M GPU. Finally there is the RAM, as you can upgrade to 32GB.

We wouldn’t hold out too much hope though seeing as though the Kickstarter campaign only has 12 backers and has raised just $4,790. We have to wonder what the company behind the project has done with all the money from previous projects?

The engineer behind this project describes the Modbook Pro X as the most powerful and innovative tablet ever, which has been based on a 15.4-inch Retina Mac device.
