Minecraft Xbox One before PS4 likelihood

It has been a period of frustrating silence, but this week we can finally bring you some official Minecraft PS4 news. It’s not necessarily good news though as we can confirm that PS4 owners will still have to wait quite some time before they see the glorious Minecraft PS4 release date.

As most of you are aware, the digital version of Minecraft on PS3 has been available for a while. Earlier this week we told you that Sony and 4J Studios will soon offer a physical copy of Minecraft PS3, which will be available in retail stores in May.

Now, we have word from Sony that the Minecraft PS4 Edition will not be available until “Q2 or Q3 of 2014” at the earliest. This information has come from Owen Hill at Mojang, who was speaking on the official PlayStation Blog – so we know that this is a genuine release update at least.

Q2 or Q3 is obviously very vague though and it should be an indication that 4J Studios are still at an early stage with the PS4 version compared to PS3. Patience is usually a virtue though so let’s hope that the wait is well worth it.

For now there is nothing you can do but sit back and hope that 4J Studios will show off the PS4 version this Summer during Sony’s E3 2014 conference – that’s our best bet on when we’ll see the game next.

Are you frustrated that the PS4 version is taking so long to come out, considering that we may well see Minecraft Xbox One Edition before PS4 lands?

If Xbox One does come out before PS4, how would you feel?
