While fans patiently await the glorious Minecraft release date on PS4 and Xbox One, there are whispers emerging that a Minecraft Edition for Wii U is also in the works for 2014. However, these whispers are certainly conflicting, leaving fans no closer to actually knowing if the game is on the way.
If you have a Wii U, you have probably heard the rumors about a Wii U Minecraft release date happening sometime during Summer 2014, along with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
That was a few weeks ago, but now it seems the mood has abruptly changed. Minecraft creator Notch has sent out some home truths on the rumors, recently stating on Twitter that he isn’t aware of any Wii U version of Minecraft being in development.
You can see his Tweet in question here:
I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft.
— Markus Persson (@notch) December 27, 2013
He went on to say that part of the reason for this, is that the team is simply too busy with existing projects – keen to make a point that there wasn’t any behind the scenes issues with Nintendo.
This is contrary to earlier rumors that were spread via this report. Either way, we would all love to see Minecraft playable off-screen on the Wii U Gamepad.
