Minecraft PS4 release date within sight

We told you at the start of August that a potential Minecraft PS4 release date had been leaked for August 19, thanks to a GameStop inventory listing that specifically name dropped the Xbox One Minecraft Edition.

Now though, we have a great update from 4J Studios to share with you. The developer of the PS4 Edition has revealed that the game is now finished and is in the hands with Sony for final testing.

It means that we are now potentially weeks away from a release date and obviously right in line with the August 19 date that was leaked at the start of the month.

This update was specifically for the PS4 version of the game, so at the moment it’s unclear as to whether Minecraft Xbox One Edition is in the same situation with final testing, or if 4J Studios plans to release the PS4 Edition first.

Either way, it’s great news to hear that there hasn’t been any further delays to the game and it looks like Minecraft will finally be arriving on next-gen very soon.

Are you planning to take advantage of the $5 upgrade incentive that is available to those that already own digital copies of Minecraft PS3 and Xbox 360 Editions? Let us know your expectations of the next-gen version.
