The Minecraft Pocket Edition has become extremely popular on Android and with that success, a lot of features are being offered up in wish lists for future versions and player skins top many lists. We’ve already highlighted confirmation that the Minecraft PE 0.10.0 update will release with player skins, as we saw in an official tweet with MCPE news back in late July.
This very news leaves some wondering about the need for apps like Skins for Minecraft PE, especially after the 0.10.0 update, and what new features could be added to the add-on Android app to make users want to keep it. Currently, the latest August update to Skins for Minecraft PE brought 5 more skins requested by users.
It’s great that such apps allow players to apply a new skin to their Minecraft character without a cost, but what happens after version 0.10.0 when this ability is added? This is the question we’ve seen a few people ask on Twitter over the last couple of weeks, and of course most would prefer not to use BlockLauncher to install skins to their Minecraft character.
The ability to create your own skins for the Pocket Edition and receive creations by others is certainly welcomed. We are yet to see the official offering after the Minecraft PE 0.10.0 update, so until then some of you might keep the other Android app installed and at that point make a decision. The Skins for Minecraft PE app might already be useful enough to keep it, although we’ve seen developers add many more features in previous apps to make them more useful than official features.
Will you be keeping the Skins for Minecraft PE app installed after 0.10.0 adds player skins? Considering the add-on app has over 1 million installs, we personally feel it isn’t going anywhere soon. We’d love to know if you use this 3rd party app, and of course what you want from the next official update.
