Minecraft PE 0.8.1 Android downgrade explained

While most of you will be playing on Minecraft 0.9.5 which is the latest version of Minecraft Pocket Edition, we have seen a big demand from other players who are looking for a Minecraft PE downgrade to an older version.

With this in mind, we wanted to tell you that this is possible with a little trickery. We have a heads-up for you on how you can actually downgrade to Minecraft PE 0.8.1 if you want to.

To those that are asking the question: Why would I need to downgrade? The answer to this is that some players believe that their Minecraft PE experience was perfect on version 0.8.1 and contained less bugs which are currently present on 0.9.0 and onwards.

Mojang are doing their best with quick fire updates to improve the situation involving Minecraft PE bugs, but somehow there are always some issues that arrive with each release, resulting in this never-ending cycle which we’ve seen with the speedy 0.9.0 all the way up to 0.9.5 recently.

Minecraft 0.10.0 is the next major version with player skins, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Mojang are effectively forced to issue Minecraft PE 0.9.6 on Android to combat new bugs that have been found.

In the meantime, those who want a stress free experience may want to explore downgrading. A tutorial on how-to do this has been set up by YouTuber Potpotsie which you can watch below – excuse the wallpaper choice though, that’s definitely not our doing.

As the title suggests, this downgrade is for Android only so don’t try to attempt it if you are a Minecraft iOS player. For those that have already downgraded, let us know your thoughts on Minecraft 0.8.1 and if you really believe it is more stable than the latest versions of the game.
