Microsoft’s big announcement at June press event

Right on the heels of Apple launching some new products at WWDC we’re hearing about a Microsoft press event for June, which is scheduled to happen this Monday. Members of the press and some of the biggest technology websites were sent invites from Microsoft for a big announcement, although the finer details are being kept well hidden.

This has led to a barrage of ideas being raised for what the Microsoft press conference might reveal, and some of the popular ideas involve a Windows 8 tablet, Yammer being purchased by Microsoft, and new software for Xbox Live that could be featured at the media event.

Microsoft’s big announcement will take place in Los Angeles on June 18, but the press have not been told exactly where that will be, which is Microsoft’s way of keeping the finer details well hidden. On the morning of the press conference those attending will get further details on where to go, and at that time we’ll be sure to update everyone with more details.

What will Microsoft announce this Monday at their secret press conference? It could be anything from some new hardware/software for the Xbox 360, to something major surrounding Windows 8 or a new purchase. We know some gamers would love to hear something about Xbox 720, but we can pretty much count that out right now, although this would be the biggest news of the year if they did release details.
