We knew Microsoft was working on a sequel to the Surface Pro, but we had no idea that it would be released so quickly. The Surface Pro 2 release date will be October 22, 2013, which is fast considering the current model was release in February in the US and May in the UK.
However, Microsoft has been forced to do this because their Surface range did not do as well as they had hoped. We had a quick look at the Surface Pro 2 and the Surface 2 yesterday, and we are still concerned about the price, although the specs are a vast improvement and so could help bolster sales.
Microsoft Surface Pro 2 hands-on reviews — Now the dust has settled on the Surface event there have been a number of videos where the media had a chance to get their hands on the new Surface Pro 2, and so we are able to gain an early reaction.
In the first video it is pointed out that the Surface Pro 2 is more of an incremental update when compared to the Surface 2, although this was always going to be the case. We get to see some of the exterior features and a rundown of the hardware.

The second video gets down and dirty from the start and so lists the Surface Pro 2 main specs, which include the Intel Haswell processor, 8GB of RAM, 7 hour battery life, 1080p display, up to 256GB of storage and 200GB of Skydrive storage.
We love how in the third video the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is described as the most productive tablet ever, although only time will tell if this bold claim can be backed up.
It is clear in the fourth video that Microsoft’s second-gen tablet gives users more power and battery life, although it is only a modest performance boost.
The final video is a look at the tablet and docking station for the Surface Pro 2, but what we cannot wait to see are those first reviews from an owners perspective.
