Today we are going to bring you an in-depth review of the match up between two Windows tablets that are currently out on the market. The Nokia Lumia 2520 and Microsoft Surface 2 are both very similar at a first glance, so which one would be better suited to you?
We start first with the prices of the tablets which is always going to be a key factor. The Lumia 2520 is slightly more pricey at $500 with the Surface 2 weighing in at $450, the $50 difference may sway some people but we will have a closer look at what the devices can do first.
As you can see both products have sleek similar designs and are very easy on the eye; however we feel that the Lumia just edges it thanks to the brighter colors and choice available. It would be easy to mistake the displays for being the same size, however the Surface 2 is slightly bigger at 10.6 inches opposed to the Lumia’s 10.1 screen.
We now turn our attentions to the guts which sees the Nokia Lumia 2520 fitted nicely with a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC processor with 2GB of RAM. The Microsoft Surface 2 by contrast runs off a quad-core 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, also with 2GB of RAM. The Surface 2 slightly has the upper hand in storage options, coming in either 32GB or 64GB versions, whereas the Lumia 2520 is only available in 32GB. Fortunately both devices feature SD slots if you wish to upgrade your memory capacity.
In the camera department both tablets clash again with a 6.7 megapixel camera, you can read up on the various different features of these in an in-depth review on Phones Arena. Both devices have reasonable battery lives lasting a full day of use under both Wi-fi and 4G connectivity. Windows RT 8.1 has been slightly more battery optimized towards battery friendliness supposedly.
In summary there is very little between the Microsoft Surface 2 and Nokia Lumia 2520, they are both worthy and capable devices. Whilst they differ and best each other slightly in certain specs and features it is really down to user preference when making a decision. The slight price difference could be appealing but on the whole both tablets are worth considering in our opinion.
