Microsoft Office 2013 download live today, 365 update to follow

For those waiting to know when the retail version of the Microsoft Office 2013 download will go live, then we are pleased to say that it will be today, well if we are to believe an official tweet. The new software will launch at a special event later today at Bryant Park, New York, although we do not have a specific time of when the download goes live. That’s not all; we are also told that Office 365 will get an update shortly as well.

Microsoft Office 2013 has already been available in other forms last year, but it’s the retail version that is of interest to us today. As always there is to be several versions of Office 2013, the Home & Student version will cost $139 and can only be installed once on a home PC, or Home & Business 2013 for $219, this to can only be installed on one PC. Office Standard will cost $369 and Office Professional Plus 2013 will cost $499, both of which can be installed on multiple computers.

However, if you do not wish to pay these one-off fees then you can opt for Office 365 instead, which allows you to use the software in the Cloud and pay on a monthly basis. You have all the features as you would above, without having to part with a huge sum of money up front.

The most popular version will be Office Home Premium 2013 but you are better going for the subscription version because you are not limited to just using the software on one PC but up to five PCs and Mac devices. Instead of the one-off $139 you’ll pay just $8.33 a month instead. As for Office 365, Microsoft did say that they will be updating subscription version shortly after the release of the retail versions.
