We have some more details to bring you on the Microsoft Kinect device – the new name for Project Natal, which was unveiled at a Microsoft pre-E3 event this evening.
As reported from Engadget, Microsoft confirmed that Kinect will also feature video chat features. The application will simply be known as ‘Video Chat’ and it will apparently have support for up to four users at once – great! We havent had any specific details on features within Video Chat, but we do know that participants will be able to share photos with each other.
Microsoft will most likely give a full demonstration of Video Chat on Kinect at their E3 keynote later today, so you can expect to hear more details then. What are your thoughts on Video Chat? I guess the most important aspect of it will be frame rate and whether it can handle smooth video chat with four people at once. I’ll be impressed if I can have a smooth conversation with people overseas – that would be an instant purchase for me.
Engadget also has some official product photos which have just been released by Microsoft. Take a look at them and let us know your thoughts on Kinect. Microsoft’s E3 keynote begins at 10 PT, 6PM BST – see you there!
