Microsoft Kinect / Project Natal: Microsoft’s Sales Expectations

Earlier today we officially confirmed that Project Natal had been renamed Microsoft Kinect, we are now hearing that Microsoft have high expectations for their controller-free gaming and entertainment device.

It is thought that Kinect will launch some time in October this year, apparently it should be priced at around $149.99 by itself, however there will also be bundles offered.

Apparently Microsoft expect Kinect to be extremely popular, so much so that they expect at least 5 million devices to sell before the end of 2010, however some rumors suggest that Kinect will not arrive until 2011.

Needless to say all of these contradicting rumors are making Kinect predictions extremely hard to make, however I would imagine an October release would make the Kinect an extremely popular gift this Christmas.

Do you think Microsoft’s sales expectations are realistic?
