Microsoft EMEA vice president Chris Lewis has stated that gamers looking to use ‘Kinect’ on the more ‘hardcore’ side of the gaming spectrum will have to wait 18 months or so to start seeing any sort of Gears of War, Halo and Fable type games for the new Microsoft device.
The rest of 2010 seems to point more to the young/old/female and family audiences for games, trying to aim at a broader range of gamers instead of the core players such as the ones who play the games listed above.
Especially over Christmas is when we will see these pure Kinect experiences aimed at all types of gamers, hopefully pathing the future of what could be a very popular platform for future releases on the 360 console.
It is not sure what exactly the ‘hardcore’ gamers feel about Kinect, but the general contentious is that they are not too fussed about the ‘Wii’ demographic styled experience.
Hardcore gamers do have Medal of Honor, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo Reach and Fable III to look forward to this fall, which were also highlighted at this years E3 event.
Question is, are hardcore gamers even bothered about Kinect being integrated into their ‘hardcore’ games? As a gamer myself, I’m welcoming the diversity of gaming methods, I’m just not sure it will catch on.
