Microsoft Courier: Plans for Tablet Scrapped

Although it was never officially announced it has recently been revealed that Microsoft have decided to scrap plans for a tablet that they were going to call the Microsoft Courier, initially it was thought that Microsoft would release the Courier to directly compete with the Apple iPad.

The only time we ever really got to see the Courier is when a concept video was revealed, perhaps Microsoft have something else up their sleeve.

Personally I feel that once Windows Phone 7 has been released Microsoft may think about using this OS on future tablets, mainly because Apple’s iPad runs a mobile OS, which means battery life is improved and hardware requirements are not as high.

Just because Microsoft have scrapped their plans for the Courier tablet it doesn’t mean that we do not have a Windows-based tablet to look forward to, the HP Slate is looking pretty promising and is rumored for a June 2010 release.
