Mercedes R-Class refreshed at NY Auto Show 2010

With a refreshed face lifted front end Mercedes has shown that it wants to make a go of it with its seemingly unloved R-Class. And it has to be said that the heavy restyling has done wonders for the once not very attractive “Sports Tourer”.

In keeping with the German companies new corporate face a large three-pointed star sits in its upright rectangular shaped grille making the car look far more masculine. A reshaped rear bumper holding integrated reflectors, a new lower diffuser and updated lenses along with a selection of wheel choices complete the look.

Performance will come from a range of engines with the U.S. getting R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC and R350 4MATIC all-wheel-drive versions in 2011. There will also be a 3.0 liter BluTEC V6 and an R320 BlueTEC model. As far as the press release shows through AutoBlog there is no AMG version but there are as always with Mercedes AMG accessories available.
