Menthal app on Android for addicts

Are you in control of your mobile device, or does it control you? That is the punchline for the new Menthal app – an interesting application that records the amount of time you spend on your mobile device and gives you feedback on how it may affect your daily lifestyle.

The Menthal app download has just gone live on Android and users are starting to become aware and intrigued on the potential benefits that Menthal can offer. At the moment, the app is still in beta status, but the early signs suggest that it could become a massive application that could open up the eyes of all Android users.

Watch the debut trailer below to get an idea of how it works. In simple terms, Menthal will be able to track how long you spend on your mobile device and how long you spend on a particular app. The app will then take this data and give you healthy feedback on whether the recorded data is affecting your lifestyle or not.

The makers of the app are from the German university of Bonn and have promised that Menthal does not share your data or consume high data costs and battery life. In fact, details on the Google Plus page confirm that Menthal will only take 100KB per day to record and send information back to you on your mobile habits.

It is very early days, but it looks like the majority of Android users can see the bigger picture and the uses of this app.

Have you tried out Menthal on Android? If so, give us your impressions below and whether you feel safe giving away your mobile data in return for feedback on your ‘addictions’ to mobile technology.
