Medion Erazer X6815 specs listing and price – tempted?

If you are looking for an affordable gaming laptop we have just the thing for you today, this is the Medion Erazer X6815, prices for this new model start at just £699, however despite the relatively low price tag it still packs a punch.

The £699 model consists of a second-generation Intel Core i7 processor (we think it’s the i7-2670QM processor, but this hasn’t been confirmed), 4GB RAM, a 500GB SATA hard disk drive, a Blu-ray drive which also burns CD and DVDs, a 15.62 LED backlit display which outputs at full HD (1920 x 1080), WiFi b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, HDMI-out, VGA-out, a multi-touch touchpad, a memory card reader, support for Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), a built-in microphone, a 1.3 megapixel webcam and integrated Bluetooth 3.0 which is compatible with 2.1 + EDR.

What makes this laptop great for an immersive gaming experience is its NVIDIA GT 555M graphics and the Dolby Home Theater v4-certified high-defintion audio. The GT 555M GPU is DirextX 11 compliant and it utilizes NVIDIA Optimus technology, also this GPU is said to have 2048MB of memory at its disposal (probably shared system RAM), as for the sound we are told that it outputs sound through two loudspeakers and a sub woofer, however as you would expect there’s a microphone input and headphone output if you plan on using a gaming headset.

The GT 555M GPU is a bit of a mystery at present, you can see how it compares to other graphics cards in the PassMark – G3D Mark benchmark tests here, we would love to see how it handles some of the most recent games such as Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.

In terms of physical design this is by no way thin and light, as you would expect the internal hardware results into a chubby 380 x 262 x 36.6/37.8mm casing which is said to weigh roughly 2,700 grams (this weight takes into account the 6-cell li-Ion battery).

We think that this spec listing for £699 will definitely attract some interest, hopefully we will be receiving this model for a fully detailed hands-on review – when we do we will be sure to test it out with some of today’s top games and let you know how it performs.

Do you think NVIDIA GT 555M GPU is powerful enough for your gaming needs?
