MechWarrior Online review explains limited appeal

MechWarrior Online is a recently released free-to-play vehicular combat game, and is said to take place within the larger BattleTech universe. Today we are discussing a review of this as fans of the original MechWarrior game will welcome news of this free-to-play title returning as an online experience.

Above this article we have a video review that comes courtesy of IGN and lasts nearly 4 minutes explaining all the ins and outs of this free-play title. The presenters discusses how MechWarrior Online brings back the fun and some of the former glory, although the tough learning curve experienced throughout and the limited modes on offer gives this game limited appeal.

While some gamers may enjoy the hard difficulty of this title, others may not be willing to redo specific levels again and again, and the limited modes may not be as appealing. On the other hand, we still get the impression MechWarrior Online does look cooler than the previous version.

The high end mechs are said to behind a pay wall, which some may find frustrating, as even though there is an option to use in-game purchases without paying, the more prestigious offerings are available at a price.

As the video talks about the tempo of matches being inconsistent many levels can be either fast and furious or really drawn out, therefore, we get the impression that some gamers will need to persevere with MechWarrior Online as the initial experience can be a bit of a turn off for some. So we would love to know about your personal experience with the game, and whether it took you a while to get in to it.
